Kind words

This past Monday was Jorja's 6th birthday!

We still can't believe the baby girl is a whole hand plus one finger. After the first time I asked her how old she is, and she had to hold up that second hand, I haven't asked again. I even told her to put her hands down.
wild thing
The Mama was really smart and started making a chocolate cake that morning before the kitchen got to hot. She managed to keep the Rat out of it . . . for a little while.
This is the cake that the Daddy picked up on the way home to replace what became chocolate crumbs.
When you want to take a picture of a cake but realize that your counter is dirty,
put a clean towel down over the dirt, take the picture, and clean later.
On Tuesday, ALL the children got to go have their teeth tickled at the dentist office. If I've not mentioned before how much I love our dentist office I'll mention it now. I love our dentist office.
(We also took the extra princess and her cute brother, for a total of 10 children who were good for the first 45 minutes or so, and then, as our hygienist said, "they are wound up today aren't they!" Bless her heart.)

It was Josiah's first time to have his teeth tickled. Jacob bravely (took his mommy with him and) went first. He did a great job. Then it was little brother's turn. He sat beside Jacob, wore the groovy sunglasses, and let sweet Erica clean the front of his teeth. It was as if he was not at all able to open his mouth. She had to move his lips. He sat there. Erica did a great job. Then the Dr. ran in and saw that they had teeth and said what wonderful brave boys they are.

Then all the wild things each got a balloon. Which made them wilder.

I tried to find the camera before we left to document the occasion but it was lost. I later found it INSIDE the ugly green couch. And now I wish I had a picture of the balloons in the van or flying around the house. But when I stopped typing  I found that the survivors are just not pretty anymore.
(sigh)

Sometime yesterday a friend from church called. Accidentally.
What a wonderful time. I need to spend more time with this older-than-me woman of God.
She said the kindest things about our family. "Your family is just so loving." To one another (which I've had a hard time seeing the past week) and to others (which I'm totally unaware of).
She may not have meant to call but it made my day. It was uplifting and inspiring. We sure are blessed!

"A word fitly spoken
is like apples of gold
 in a setting of silver."
~ Proverbs 25:11~

What have we learned this week: Jorja is WAY old! We need a good lock for the kitchen door to keep Josiah out when we aren't in there. 10 kids are loud at home but seem louder when you take them somewhere. Lost things can be found. And pay attention, you never know when you might  minister accidentally.
