Daddy, Son, Papa Outings

Gene and the big boys have spend the last couple of Saturdays with my dad, Papa. They've planted fields, fished, ate, played cards, picked watermelon and pears, looked at big pumpkins, road around in trucks, and generally goofed off. They'd all like to "help" Papa again this weekend but the mean Mama said that they (the daddy) really has stuff to do around here (or maybe she has stuff to do around here and he needs to help).

On the way to Papa's

I thought Gene had put more pictures on here from there.
Well, here are some fun garden pictures.

One of the sun flowers has blooms all the way down the stalk. There are eight just around the top.

Pretty cool collard!
Last year we had the most beautiful peppers and collards growing right behind the carport. The peppers died off but over the winter the collard just got taller and taller. By spring they were big 'ol ugly things. But I hated to just kill them. So I dug the four or so survivers up and moved them to the end of the house. I thought that did them end. They just wouldn't stand back up stright.
Yesterday while cutting the grass I noticed that those stupid collard are still alive. The original stalks look dead but they're growing new shoots and those are putting out more leaves.

More cute weeds!
