Today in History

Jacob officially began Kindergarten - like doing reading and handwriting! Actually learning something and putting pencil to paper!
Jacob learned the /m/ & /s/ sound today and wrote them
The bigger 6 played Fox and Geese as part of our History Lesson. (The two littlest "played" also - but we think it wasn't exactly the same game. The two little girls wound up seeing the "board of education" and going to their room - Mama won that game.)
We also had a failed science experiment. The bottle had 1 cup of vinegar in it and somehow the baking soda wasn't supposed to fall out of the aluminum "trough" until you put the "stopper" in (Ava's stopper was red play-dough) then blow out the stopper and roll across the pencils. At least the stopper blew off.
We like to watch things blow up.
Notice the audience in the grass.
Josiah had fun on the scooter in his drawers.

Alex made a huge crossbow (thankfully not at all effective)

Jorja and Jacob handcuffed themselves together (on purpose).
They learned that they used the wrong hands and couldn't walk next to each other.
Elijah and Lora did tricks on the trampoline (mostly looked like throwing themselves down flippy).
There's no picture here - I tried and just kept getting pictures of rear ends.

It's a good thing I got up this morning and went ahead and got a shower. I thought that we had an orthodontist appointment at 2 pm. I'd planned our whole day around that 2 pm appointment.
While the littles and bigs meandered into the kitchen and I doled out bowls of cereal Elijah said, "You know you have somewhere to be in 20 minutes?" I though he was kidding. I asked him why he was making jokes! I had to go check the calendar. Sure enough, there it was! "Ortho, 9:30 am, Lavonia"
So Autumn got to babysit while I took the un-snaggled pusses up the road.
She did very well and was all smiles when I returned and asked her how it went.

After lunch we did school.

I was rather short tempered the rest of the day. But I think the children's future therapy won't stem from the adventures of today.
