Pretty exciting stuff!

Jacob's 5th Birthday

Toy guitar: $10
The makings of a 5 year old rock star: Priceless

Because someones mother (Jacob's) isn't nearly as prepared for birthdays now'a days
the cake did have Micky and Minnie driving a car - Thank the good and gracious God above,
and one very sweet young thang at the grocery store, Mickey and Minnie disappeared and
were replaced with Fire truck stuff. 'Cause that's what my little brave man wanted!

The older the children get, we enjoy these number candles more and more.

Elijah's 12th Birthday

(the sad one)

Two days before Elijah's birthday, after all the presents had been procured, Bless his heart! He just had to go running his mouth.
He was going to get a certain large item that he had admired a month before. He had since changed his mind (he didn't know it was too late). He than declared that if he  didn't get this newly desired toy, IF he indeed got the object of previous desiring he would smash it over a certain, not much younger, brother's head, and other such ravings.
And he said it all right in front of the Mama. Bless his heart! (big mouth)

So, after a long talk with the Mama and Daddy, privately, in their room it was decided that he wouldn't get ANY present at all. AND he had to copy a couple of verses 10 times each and write a short report about why he wasn't getting any presents.

It was bad.
It was hard.
It was sad.

I've heard of parents withholding gifts - but now . . . sigh . . . well, now I understand the depth of their love, frustration, and making-it-up-as-you-go-ed-ness.

But he still got a cake. A John Deere cake.

Isn't that just pitiful?
He's going to have a great story to tell his kids about how mean we are.
They won't believe him.

Recently in Science: SUNSHINE

We've begun Lesson 2 and are learning all about the SUN!
Like how it is REALLY HOT!
It can even start fires.
And, of course, it did.

They started pretty good fires. When they started looking for more "fuel" to put on them the teacher made them get a bucket of water and put them out.

Random Silly

The kids sometimes pretend that they are on a roller coaster
while on long rides with the Mama. This was on the way home
from our once a month shopping trip to the Bargain Food Store
in Pelzer, SC

Who needs toys when you have boxes? Any box will do.
Beware. The Cheez-it Knight is on guard!

My food loves me.

Hart Life Pregnancy Care Center's Annual Benefit Dinner

Normally I go to VERY expensive dinners or other "benefit" event several times a year. This time The Daddy decided to go with me (maybe cause I told him I was signing him up).
We might look a little blurry but i think that may be how
I'm normally perceived anyway.

Scott Klusendorf from Life Training Institute was the main speaker.
The evening was lovely. If only we didn't need PCC's anymore.

Jacob's Finger

Jacob is recovering nicely. We aren't doing anymore therapy because he does MUCH better when he's not thinking about it but just playing.
We went back to the surgeon last Friday. Jacob has a very small hard spot on the end of his finger. It may be just a weird scab or reaction to where the stitches were or a little tiny fingernail. If it is a fingernail it will have to be removed. So, we waiting a watching for six more weeks.
Jacob waiting on Dr. Klugman. They took him for another x-ray and
told him to hold out his finger and be still. He did a great job and came back
to the room - I had to tell him he could bend and wiggle again.
(By the way, his big brothers dressed him).

Ryan's Birthday Skeet Shoot

Saturday we headed down to Papa's camp and had lunch and a skeet shoot (in the pouring rain) for a sweet friend's 12th birthday.
The Birthday Boy
The biggest brother, Adam
The baby brother, Chance.
This is the same little one I've talked about before who just
came home from Russia earlier this year.
He has gone from 12 pounds to 28 pounds!!!
He is doing great but is going to need a couple of surgeries
soon so please keep this baby and his darling family in your prayers.
The Mama and Daddy

Happy Mama with her innocent looking birthday boy

I LOVE this picture! This a waiting to eat some birthday cake cookie faces.
And the rain came down, down, down. Finally those Daddies decided that if they didn't shoot in the rain they wouldn't get to shoot at all.

It was POURING! I'm sure it couldn't have rained much harder.
Right after this picture they ran out of bullets so they headed back up the hill.
Then it stopped raining.

Oh look! Some girls!

More to come! Stay Tuned!
