A Moment in History

Fierce

When the Romans first came to conquer British shores they were meet by naked, blue-painted, fierce warriors called the Celts.

 Somewhat taken aback by this first blue-man group the Romans were at first defeated.










The Romans eventually overtook Britain for a time. That's why there are such nice roads there.

The Celts remained on the look out for enemies.

 

The Celts told stories of their brave warriors fighting fearsome monsters and giants.

 Fellers who sang these stories were called Bards. Which did NOT mean they had to have a beard.




And no body wrote anything important down and that's why we have a time period called the Dark Ages.


Perhaps that's where we got the tale of Jack and Jill and the Sunflower Stalk.

 

Moderately Happy

Eventually, the Western Roman empire fell. That made the Celts moderately happy.








Until King Vortigern invited the Anglo-Saxons from across the North Sea to come stay FOREVER. The Celts must have thought these people were crazier then they were because they left England and all moved to Wales, Scotland, and Ireland. And lived mostly happily and sometimes peacefully ever after.
